What Drives Me…
I was first introduced to the benefits of massage from a therapeutic point of view as a student in France and was soon receiving regular massage treatments. The benefits were huge: relaxed neck and shoulders, no tension headaches when I felt run down, greater clarity and concentration when I was studying and more energy. This gave me the initial foundation for my own treatments based on a greater awareness of the body and a recognition that there are muscle imbalances (for example strong quadriceps and weak hamstrings) in the body and rectifying these help prevent injury and pain.
Massage and the power of touch is seated in history and has been passed down through generations throughout the world. For many it is part of their culture to nurture the body using natural oils. The body has an amazing ability to “heal” itself when encouraged through massage, body awareness, a balanced healthy diet, breathing deeply and a quiet mind.
Sport has also been crucial to understanding body mechanics and the role massage has to play. Pilates and yoga have taught me the importance of posture, flexibility and core stability.
